PROJECTS

I feel very privileged to be involved in so many interesting and varied projects, working with wonderful colleagues and exploring different aspects of music, culture and education.

"the last three"

Never say never…I swore I´d never do this, but I couldn´t resist: A series of maxi-concerts in my beloved “Konzertkirche” in Berne (near Bremen), each one devoted to the final three sonatas for piano by Beethoven, Schubert and Haydn (plus Brahms Opus 117, 118, 119).  The first concert with Schubert took place on November 19, 2016, Beethoven is planned for December 17, 2017.

Mozart Concerti
One of my life goals: to learn and perform all of the Piano Concerti by Mozart. Only a few left to complete this project, and the next one will be K. 450 (paired with the Concerto for two pianos with my esteemed colleague Till Engel) in Essen end of 2016. Our conductor will be Joachim Galemann.  This project was started by hans Winking and we will dedicate it to his memory – he is sorely missed! Will also be playing K. 450 at the Amici della musica Festival in Atri, Italy in August.

Literature and Musik
It is a total inspiration to work with prize-winning actress Hannelore Hoger (Grimme Preis, Goldene Kamera). Our first program ("Unusual Love Stories") includes texts by Tania Blixen, Clarice Lispector, Robert Walser as well as Musik by Schumann, Schubert and Debussy. Our next appearance: January 23, 2016 in Hamburg.
Currently in preparation: "Mozart and Modernity" and "My Dream"

Mozart Violin Sonatas
You can never have enough Mozart! A project I´ve always wanted to do is finally taking shape: all of the Mozart Sonatas for Piano and Violin, with the marvelous violinist Ariadne Daskalakis (www.ariadne-daskalakis.com). To be combined with works of our time: Mozart and Modernity. This next concert in the series will be presented at the Kulturkirche Warfleth on March 25, 2018 and will K. 376, K. 303, K. 305, K. 481.

Andernacher Musiktage
In 2016 I assumed the artistic directorship of this intimate and unique chamber music festival. The first season with the theme "Brahms, the janus-faced?" was a huge success! This year´s festival, with the theme "Rhein Serenade" will take place May 19-21 2017 and will include works by Mozart,Dvorak, Beethoven, Brahms and many others.

Young Piano Masters at Burg Namedy
Encouraging and supporting young musicians has become an important part of my life and I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to organize a series of performances for the promising artists who study with me. In cooperation with APT (www.aptouring.com) and Burg Namedy (www.burg-namedy.com), an international audience of guests visiting Germany, traveling by ship along the Rhine, has the opportunity to hear and meet young artists at the beginning of major careers, who enjoy sharing their artistry both by performing and by speaking with the listeners. In 2014 we offer 84 presentations, in 2015 more than 95 events are being planned! The concerts are exclusively for the guests of APT, but you can learn more about the program here.

Krenek
What a pleasure to work with my esteemed colleague Anthony Spiri! We have been asked to perform and record seldom-performed works for two pianos by Ernst Krenek. (www.krenek.at). And I am now officially a member of the "Krenek Ensemble" (Vienna)!
