Projects

PROJECTS I feel very privileged to be involved in so many interesting and varied projects, working with wonderful colleagues and exploring different aspects of music, culture and education.

Schubert Cycle

The first in a series of four recitals featuring the 11 published Piano Sonatas of Franz Schubert took place in April 2019 and included Eflat major, c minor and G major Sonatas. The next in the series will first be presented at the “Wiener Schule” in Frechen in March 2020.

Andernacher Musiktage

Since 2016 I have had the privilege of curating this intimate and unique chamber music festival. The concerts this year took place May 3-5 at Burg Namedy and the theme was "Family and Friends", featuring Cuarteto Casals and other magnificent artists in performances of works by Bartók, Kurtág, Schumann, Beethoven and others. 2020 will be special – it´s the 30th anniversary of the festival and will take place May 8-10 2020.

Piano Plus

A new concert series in Cologne, featuring some of my favorite colleagues and guest artists. The concerts will take place Tuesdays at 8pm in the Aula of the St Aposteln Church and are sponsored by the Rheinisches Kuratorium. For details see the special heading on this homepage.

Literature and Musik

It is a total inspiration to work with prize-winning actress Hannelore Hoger (Grimme Preis, Goldene Kamera). Our first program ("Unusual Love Stories") includes texts by Tania Blixen, Clarice Lispector, Robert Walser as well as Musik by Schumann, Schubert and Debussy.  Next performance on November 12, 2019 in the “piano plus” series.

Mozart Violin Sonatas

You can never have enough Mozart! A project I´ve always wanted to do is finally taking shape: all of the Mozart Sonatas for Piano and Violin, with the marvelous violinist Ariadne Daskalakis (www.ariadne-daskalakis.com). To be combined with works of our time: Mozart and Modernity. This series will be presented at the Kulturkirche Warfleth beginning 2015. Check here for updates!

Piano Masters at Burg Namedy

Encouraging and supporting young musicians has become an important part of my life and I am extremely pleased to have the opportunity to organize a series of performances for the promising artists who study with me. In cooperation with APT (www.aptouring.com) and Burg Namedy (www.burg-namedy.com), an international audience of guests visiting Germany, traveling by ship along the Rhine, has the opportunity to hear and meet young artists at the beginning of major careers, who enjoy sharing their artistry both by performing and by speaking with the listeners. In 2019 we offered over 70 presentations, in 2020 more events are being planned!
